Emergency Unlocking Procedure
Situation #1 – Typical lock override from outside the restroom.
1. Thread the 1/4-20 bolt (supplied) into the indicator by only three rotations to make a sufficient bond ready for pulling.
2. Pull on the screw a short distance of about 1/4″ and then allow the indicator to automatically retract into the housing.
3. Pulling the indicator will cause the handle to fall down into the unlocked position on the egress side of the door.
Watch a demonstration – including other things that can be used for emergency unlocking.
Situation #2 – Barricading with handle held in the locked position.
1. If the handle is purposely held in the locked position, the unlock procedure above will not work.
2. To shift control of the lock to the ingress side of the door, pull the indicator as far as it will go.
3. While holding the indicator, push on the door to defeat the manual force being applied by the barricaded person.
